An Introduction to Barefoot Massage
Now Offered in Idaho!
Instructors Chancy Gill and Jaclyn Cosper, co-owners of Syringa Bodywork in Hayden, are excited to bring Barefoot Massage Training classes to Idaho! Trained through the Center for Barefoot Massage, and sharing a combined total of 28 years of massage experience and 4 years of Myofascial Barefoot Massage experience, we are passionate and knowledgeable massage therapists who cannot wait to train others to use the massage technique that changed our careers!
More traditionally known as Ashiatsu, barefoot massage utilizes gravity and bodyweight to apply broad, flowing pressure with the feet. This approach allows us to provide a more intentional and evenly sustained depth, always working with the client’s comfort. By applying these broad strokes, we are able to engage the fascial system. We strive to bring our own intuitive rhythm to the table through creativity, and knowledge of physiology. Our purpose is to address the body as a whole, affecting all the systems to achieve a state of overall well-being.
As Barefoot Massage Instructors, we want you to massage intuitively with your feet, just like you do your hands. In order for you to trust your feet and move naturally during a session, you need to feel confident in why, how and when you may use what stroke where! Our classes offer detailed technique combined with education on the theories as to WHY you would apply each stroke and who they are most effective for. That way you can create a comprehensive barefoot massage session catered to each client.
Our focus is on exploration of how to engage tissue within each stroke using theories of myofascial release, trigger point, deep tissue and stretch therapy techniques… it all just happens to be applied by your feet rather than hands!
If you are a licensed massage therapist interested in learning a new technique that can help you advance your craft and maximize your career, while minimizing wear and tear on your body, head over to our “Classes” page to sign up!
